Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) provides this service, enabling users to register vehicles in order to be able to request daily permits for driving in the ZBE, as well as the other exemptions and permits described below:
The Metropolitan register (Metropolitan Register of Foreign Vehicles and other Authorised Vehicles) is a service for the processing of permits for vehicles to drive within the restricted area of ZBE Rondes de Barcelona, according to the regulations in force.
If you own a vehicle that does not have an environmental label, or if you own a foreign-registered vehicle, the service enables you to obtain information about, apply for and manage — mainly through digital means — the different types of permits to drive in the restricted area.
Registration for the ZBE metropolitan permit is a one-off procedure. To register, the owner of the vehicle must send an application form to the Metropolitan register.
After the application has been accepted, you can select the days for your vehicle's permit using the register website until 11.59 pm on the day before. Exceptionally, single-day permits can be requested in person at the metropolitan Citizen Attention Office (OAC).
The following groups are entitled to VPRM permits:
Vehicle for people with reduced mobility: Vehicles owned by people with a level of disability of 33 % or over, and who exceed the mobility threshold. Only one application for this type of permit per applicant will be allowed.
Collective transport for people with reduced mobility: Vehicles adapted to transport people with reduced mobility. They must be registered under the use criteria classification for the vehicle for transporting PRM (use code 01 on the vehicle's technical specifications).
You can register and apply to include the vehicle in the Metropolitan register of foreign vehicles and other authorised vehicles. Until the register's official start date, there is an option to carry out a pre-registration process that will keep you informed and facilitate subsequent processing.
