Description
Vehicle repair shops can apply for inclusion of vehicles in the Metropolitan Register and for permits to carry out the necessary tests on vehicles under their care or to drive vehicles to an official vehicle testing station (ITV).
Requirements
The application must be made by the vehicle repair shop, not by the user or owner of the vehicle.
The repair shop must be located in a municipality of the low emissions zones and must be registered on the DGT Electronic workshop book platform, where all the data of the vehicle to be tested are recorded. Once included in the Metropolitan Register, the vehicle is allowed to drive in the low emissions zones until the repair is completed, but not for more than seven working days. This period can be extended if needed.
During a test drive of a vehicle, the repair shop must comply with the following requirements:
Test drives must be carried out during working hours, while avoiding rush hours (from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 18:00 to 19:00).
Test drives must be carried out within a 25-km radius, and distance and duration must always be limited to what is strictly necessary.
The repair order sheet, signed by the client, must be kept inside the vehicle during the test drive.
Procedure
Registration with the platform Electronic workshop book can be done through CETRAA (Confederación Española de Talleres de Reparación) or other repair shop organisations.
When the vehicle is dropped off in the repair shop, a repair order must be signed by the vehicle owner and the repair shop. Then, if the repair shop foresees the need for a test drive, they must write an entry in the Electronic workshop book, stating the term KILOMETRAJE (distance travelled) as the type of event, and specify the following:
After completion of the test drive, the repair shop must write an entry in the Electronic workshop book on the repair carried out and specify the completion date.
Schedule
The vehicle must be registered in the workshop book no later than the same day of circulation.
The vehicle has to be registered in the Electronic workshop book on the same day as the test drive, at the latest. The vehicle may drive in the low emissions zones for a period of seven working days from the date recorded in the Electronic workshop book. This term can be extended with additional seven-day periods by writing new entries in the Electronic workshop book, stating the term KILOMETRAJE (distance travelled) as the type of event.
Authorisation to drive in the low emissions zones is valid until 23:59 of the day the vehicle is to leave the repair shop, allowing the user to pick up the vehicle and drive it to another location.
Fees
No fees are charged for these procedures
